👋 Meet Aria

Hi! I'm Aria, and I'm so happy you're here. I'll be your guide as we explore the Lore & Leaf Confidence Hub together.
Starting your period can bring lots of questions and that's completely normal. Whether you're feeling excited, curious, nervous or a little unsure, I'm here to help you learn at your own pace.
There's no rush and no such thing as a silly question.
Let's explore this journey together.
Welcome to Your First Period Guide
If you’re reading this, it means your body is growing - and that’s something to be proud of!
Periods are a normal part of life. You might feel excited, unsure, or a bit of both - and that’s completely okay.
You don't have to know everything right now. You just need to know you're supported.
Signs your first period might be coming
Your body has its own perfect timing, and it will let you know when it’s getting ready. Here are some signs that your period might be on its way. Not everyone experiences all of these signs, and they don't always happen in the same order. Every body develops differently.
🤍 Breast development – one of the first signs of puberty
🤍 Vaginal discharge – clear or creamy discharge often appears months before a first period
🤍 Growth spurts – changes in height or weight are completely normal
🤍 Mood changes – hormones can affect how you feel emotionally
🤍 Mild cramps or tummy aches – these can happen before your period starts
Most people get their first period between the ages of 10 and 15 - but earlier or later is absolutely normal.

Aria says...
"Our bodies all have their own special timeline. We all grow and change in different ways, and that's what makes each of us unique. Try not to compare yourself to your friends—your body will be ready when the time is right for you."
Which product is right for me?
There’s no one “right” way to manage your period.
Everyone’s body is different, and what feels comfortable for one person might feel different for someone else. The good news is that reusable period care comes in a few different options and you can explore them at your own pace.
Here’s a gentle guide to help you decide what might suit you right now.
🤍 Period Underwear
This might be right for you if:
- you want something that feels like regular underwear
- you’re new to periods or reusable products
- you like simple, easy options
- you want protection you don’t have to think about
Many people start here because it feels familiar and comfortable.
🤍 Reusable Pads
This might be right for you if:
- you prefer something you can change easily
- you like seeing when it needs changing
- you want a simple, flexible option
- you’d like a backup to period underwear
Reusable pads can be used on their own or together with other products.
🤍 Menstrual Cups
This might be right for you if:
- you feel curious and ready to try something internal
- you want longer-lasting protection
- you’re comfortable learning how to use it
- you want a zero-waste option
Some people choose cups later on. There’s no rush at all.
The best product is the one that makes you feel comfortable and confident.
What if your period starts at school?
If your period starts when you’re not at home, the most important thing is to stay calm.
You can:
- change into your period underwear
- place used underwear into your wet bag
- freshen up with wipes if you need to
If you need help:
- talk to a teacher
- visit the school nurse
- ask a trusted adult
- talk to a friend
Periods are normal - and it’s always okay to ask for help.
How you might feel?
You might feel:
- proud
- confused
- emotional
- annoyed
- excited
- or not much at all
All of these feelings are valid.
Some people also experience:
- cramps
- tiredness
- changes in mood
Gentle rest, warmth, and taking care of yourself can really help.
Remember that:
- Your body is doing exactly what it should
- Everyone’s journey is different
- You don’t have to figure everything out at once
- Talking about periods helps make them less scary
Swimming on your period
One of the most common questions asked is: Can I still go swimming when I’m on my period?
The answer is: Yes, you absolutely can!
Your period shouldn’t stop you from enjoying the sea, the pool, training, or a fun day at the beach. With the right swimwear, you can swim, dive, train and play just like always.
That’s why there are special period swim styles designed just for this.
